Last week, I had the privilege of talking with stylist and Dean Street Society founder Hilary Rushford (she’s helping out the Haberdash team with a few things).  After one brief phone conversation, I instantly wished she still lived in Southern California (where she’s originally from) so that we could be friends.  But alas, Hilary is in New York City, and I’ll have to resort to the blogosphere to stay connected to her.  So, when I saw that Hilary had issued a blog challenge this month called Style Me May, I knew I wanted to participate.

Now, you all know how good I am about keeping up with blog challenges.  (I’ve failed at more than one attempt.) But this one is so fun and effortless that something tells me I might just keep up with it.  Here are the rules if you want to join along:

1.) Read Hilary’s Style Me May blog post.

2.) Pick an outfit that coincides with the prompt for each day of the month.

3.) Take a picture of that outfit and post it on your blog, Twitter and/or Instagram with the Hashtag #StyleMeMay.

Today’s prompt is “Makes me want to twirl” and while I definitely have other dresses that MAKE me want to twirl, this is one of the only ensembles I actually DO twirl in. (When you live in a breezy place like I do, shorter ensembles will only result in a Marilyn Monroe moment.)

The best part about this outfit is that that skirt, jacket and shirt cost me less than $20!
